Stanford Classrooms Reimagined launched September 2021 (FY22).

Audio Visual equipment in University Classrooms is refreshed every 7 years.  Flexible furniture is refreshed on a 14 year cycle. Flexible furniture is upgraded at the same time as the AV during Round 1. During Round 2 when we refresh the AV, fixed lecture hall seating will be refreshed. The combined 7-year technology refresh and 14- year furniture refresh cycle balances reasonable technology and furniture lifecycles, campus investment, and the number of classrooms we would need to take offline each summer to refresh without negatively impacting user experience and classroom demand. 

Year 1 (FY22)

  • Upgrade 61 classrooms, thanks to Cap Plan Funding as well as a one-time infusion of mid-year funds from the President and Provost Office.
  • Renovate and add new classrooms thanks to LBRE
  • Establish guiding principles, furniture and technology standards
  • Implement new remote management of AV systems, standardizing on Q-SYS
  • Expand classroom support staffing

Year 2 (FY23)

  • Upgrade 30 classrooms
  • Establish assisted listening standard, Stanford Focus
  • Abate asbestos and replace spline ceilings and complete required ADA upgrades.
  • Establish cross-functional learning space design team

Year 3 (FY24)

  • 23 classrooms
  • Pilot equipment sensors
  • Pilot and deploy POE clocks
  • Expand classroom support hours
  • Classroom Access (Lenel) Discovery Report
  • SCR Phase 2, Informal Learning Space Pilots

Year 4 (FY25)

  • 28 classrooms
  • Establish POE clocks and equipment sensor standards
  • Classroom Access (Lenel) Project - Year 1
  • Discovery Project: Writing Surfaces (Chalkboard, Dry Erase Board)

Year 5 (FY26)

  • 26 classrooms
  • Classroom Access (Lenel) Project - Year 2

Year 6 (FY27)

  • 22 classrooms
